Finding and Buying Cheap LCD Monitors

CRT, or cathode ray tube, monitors are the dinosaurs of the industry. They are not quite extinct, but indications are they will be soon. They have been replaced by LCD computer monitors, and these flat screen models are becoming the standard for general use as well as gaming and professional applications. While the high end of these types of monitors can be very high indeed, there are many cheap LCD monitors to be found.

For general purpose use, computer monitors do not need the same resolution quality or screen size as those intended for applications, such as graphic design, that requires accuracy in color and sharpness of image. Many of the cheap LCD monitors are perfect for most applications, particularly in the home.

Computer monitors feature a certain number of horizontal and vertical pixels. The higher the number of pixels, the better the onscreen image, or resolution, will be. Most cheap LCD monitors feature a resolution of around 1400 x 900, which means they are adequate for the majority of users. If your main use of your computer is to type an occasional email, you could probably even get the results you need from cheap LCD monitors with an even lower resolution.

On the other hand, if you are a professional photographer, you probably need to go to the high end of computer monitors to find one suitable for your needs. There are not many cheap LCD monitors that will give you anything near the crisp detail you need.

Computer monitors are sold just about everywhere these days. Major “superstores” and office supply houses stock a great variety of monitors. Many of them have some excellent cheap LCD monitors you can purchase for $100 – $200.

Online dealers of computer monitors are also plentiful. They are often a good source for cheap LCD monitors. However, when buying monitors online, you must also include the cost of shipping and insurance in your price to determine the best deal. Unlike old style computer monitors, though, the new flat panel monitors are lighter in weight, which will reduce the shipping cost. This also helps to reduce their price at local stores as well.

When shopping for computer monitors, be sure and compare those with like features. The Internet can be a great tool for doing this, since you can compare features line by line. You want to compare the resolution between computer monitors of a similar size, and look at all brands of computer monitors in your price range. Obviously, the $3000 computer monitors with 2560 x 1600 resolution are normally going to offer superior images, but if that is not in your budget, there is no need to look at these computer monitors.

Cheap LCD monitors are also sometimes referred to as entry level or starter computer monitors. This is because manufacturers assume that you will eventually want to upgrade. However, there are many people who have been using their computer monitors for many years without the need or desire to replace them as long as they work.
